Tie Fleece Blanket - No Sew

I made this a couple years ago.. while my grandmother Betty was still alive. She lost her eyesight and liked soft things so I thought she would like this. Unfortunately I don't know if she ever even received it because she had dementia at the time. :( ....I also made one for my sis and bro in law-UCLA themed...that one I know is still in use. :)
To the crafting---
It's a really easy project. Buy two squares of fleece. Put them wrong sides together. Cut about two inches in all the way around about one inch apart. Tie pieces together twice and you're done!!! Easy as pie!

candle making

So I used to buy candles all the time and they'd burn out and then I'd be left with a bunch of wax. Or sometimes the wick would disappear and then again, a useless candle... and candle buying can get expensive. Then one day I decided that I would try to resuse then, so I bought a double broiler and some wick, remelted some using the old containers, or cut the tops off the old ones discovering the useable wick and using the extra wax.
Here are some candles before they are dry... I actually used a skewer to hang the wicks into the wax.
Here is the finished result... notice the sunken wick.. I always have this problem... tho I have done research and apparently all you have to do is once it's cooled some, just add a but more wax.. I''ll have to try it next time. Here is the finished candle burning brightly :) the one thing I did find out tho, is that if your wick is not centered it will get to close to the glass and the glass will explode. It was quite exciting!

Rhubarb torte

My Grandma Hunt makes a rhubarb torte as one of her specialties. She grows it in her garden. One of my recent visits with her, I sat down with her and got all her recipes so they would be written down. It was a good thing too, because she would give me the recipe to copy and then show me how to do it and it was always completely different then what was written. I'd never seen rhubarb before. It looks like red celery...very weird.
Well, when I returned home, I decided to try it one day. I bought the rhubarb and while I was in lin the grocery store lots of people talked to me because they had never seen it before.
Here is some pictures of it... It turned out well.
